A Meeting Place for the UK Outdoor Community

Dayhike is a new magazine made for people who love being outside. It brings together different parts of the UK outdoor community and gives them a space to connect. We're here to highlight the people, places, and small everyday moments that make time outdoors so valuable.

You’ll find stories about community hiking groups, artists who take inspiration from the land, youth-led nature projects, conservation efforts, and even the coffee roasters keeping people warm on cold mornings. We want to show the full picture of what it means to spend time outside in the UK, from the quiet walks close to home to the hilltop sunrises that take a bit more effort.

This isn’t about the biggest trips or the most expensive kit. It’s about showing just how accessible a good day out can be, no matter your level of experience or where you live.

Why We Started It

There are some brilliant outdoor magazines already out there, and we’ve taken a lot of inspiration from them. But one thing we noticed is that many of them leave you feeling like you’re watching from the sidelines. The trips look amazing, but they can feel out of reach.

We wanted to make something that does the opposite. Something that makes you feel like you can do it. That you should get outside more. That even a simple walk can have a big impact. That’s why Dayhike exists.

Who It’s For

Dayhike is for anyone who finds joy in being outside. It doesn’t matter if you’re a seasoned hiker or someone who’s only just discovered how good a local walk can be. Whether you’re into wild camping, trail running, forest bathing, river swimming, or just taking your kids for a stomp through the woods, there’s something here for you.

We also want to highlight the parts of the outdoor community that don’t always get seen. From grassroots groups making the outdoors more inclusive, to creatives, volunteers, and small local projects doing things in their own way.

What’s Inside

Each issue is 116 pages. We include eight in-depth features and a mix of shorter stories, interviews, essays, and creative pieces.

You’ll find:

  • Profiles on artists and photographers inspired by nature
  • Stories from local walking groups and mental health projects
  • Reflections on parenting outdoors and hiking with children
  • Pieces that shine a light on overlooked locations around the UK
  • Brand features that focus on values and story, not just selling stuff
  • A few lifestyle pages for good measure such as gear, food, music, coffee

We’re not here to chase trends. We’re here to create something lasting, something meaningful, and something you’ll want to pick up again and again.
  • Why Print?

We chose print because we believe people need something they can slow down with. In a world full of scrolling and noise, a printed magazine offers space. Space to pause, reflect, and reconnect. We’ve spent time choosing the paper, the finish, and the layout to make sure it feels good in your hands. This is something we want people to live with, not just flick through once and forget.

  • Why the UK?

Everything we feature is based in the UK. That’s intentional. We want to remind people just how much beauty, variety, and inspiration is right here on our doorstep. These aren’t stories about climbing Everest or hiking across Iceland. They’re about the people and places that make the UK outdoors so special.

  • What Dayhike Stands For

At its core, Dayhike is about doing something for yourself, outside.

That might be walking through your local park, hiking a new trail, wild camping with friends, or taking a solo moment on a quiet ridge. It’s the act of showing up for yourself in nature, however that looks.

That’s what we’re here to celebrate.
